On 21st September 2019, I enjoyed the visit to O.P. Jindal Global University to give a keynote at the Inter-Disciplinary Workshop in Development Studies organised by the Centre for New Economics Studies, Jindal School of International Affairs. The workshop’s theme was “Urban Transformations”, and my keynote was entitled “Urban Transformation with ‘Asian Style’: Reflections on Property-based Redevelopment”.
O.P. Jindal Global University was about two hours drive north of New Delhi, which gave me a chance to observe the changes in the peripheries of Delhi. It was also extra-pleasing as my former doctoral student, Dr Mara Nogueira, was invited as a speaker, although I was sorry to have to leave a little early and couldn’t listen to her talk.
